Summary

The ongoing crisis in Southern Cameroon is known for its high levels of brutality, deliberate attacks against civilian populations and the displacement of at least 70.000  people seeks funds to "provide medical and psycho social treatments to those victims of war who were tortured (mutilated, burnt, gun-shots, raped etc.) and who continue to live with severe physical and emotional injuries.

Thousands of women, children and men are in hospitals, clinics, homes, jails, prisons across La République du Cameroun following the military actions by the goverment attempting to suppress non-violent protests calling for changes and reversal of decades-long marginalization of the people.

 

There are thousands of civilians who suffered serious crimes during the conflict and right now are living with the long-lasting effects, resulting from indiscriminate attacks, killing, torture, inhuman treatment, abduction, abductions and forced recruitment, mutilation, sexual violence and serious psychological harm. Physical injury, mental and emotional distress, increased poverty, and loss of livelihoods are among the primary effects they people are facing in the ongoing crisis in Southern Cameroon.

Solution

The goal of this project is to provide Medical and Surgical Care, where the proposed activities consist of identifying patients suffering and providing reconstructive surgery and treating and enabling their physical and emotional rehabilitation. It will also facilitate their emotional healing and well-being, and the building up of resilience within individuals, families and communities, thus enabling to recover from their injuries and actively engage in their present and future.

Long-Term Impact

-Improved health and quality of life of the victims of war, due to the work of the surgeons, counselors and clinical officers. -Released potential of the victims to re-engage meaningfully in life. -Reduced anger and frustration resulting from addressed reminder of serious crimes and violations. -Improved livelihood resulting into better economic recovery in Cameroon, through active and most productive victims participation in education, agriculture, income generating activities.
